its a peugeot 106 with a set of fusion encounter speakers and there are no holes for tweeters, ive looked on the fusoin website but thats no help anyone no any other websites which could help?

Well it's all depends on what you buy or what you want.

In the Smart, I've started with a set of comps and amp (cause I don't want to lose space to a sub.. yet!) and it sounds great, fitted a set of quite bassy comps so its not awesome but its not lacking.

If you get a sub you can take some of the bass-strain of the standard speakers though.

Personally, I'd go for the comps first.

what would be best to start with a sub or the comps? i know the sub woulnt sound as good with the standard speakers i have but would it still be decent?

What are the speakers you already have in the front doors ? When you say basic do you mean the standard ones that the car came with from the factory, or after market jobbys?
