DSP install advice

Best Answer Simonh, 10 May 2018 - 21:38

Thankfully I have both the inputs and outputs of the amp documented, I was concerned with having to “undo” the Bose processing but thankfully have had it confirmed I can use the inputs rather than the outputs (but both would work)

So just about to decide on what DSP to go for so have been looking at the cabling I have from the HU into the BOSE amps.

I have both INPUT into the bose amp and OUTPUT from the bose amp.

which one should I use for the INPUT into the DSP?

my original thought was to use the INPUT into the BOSE, but I found a thread on a GTR forum that covered a similar install to mine (there aren't may that actually document it beyond I paid XXX to install my system) and he used the OUTPUT from the bose amp.

Doing it is not enough - it has to be done right.

Some cars dont work properly if you unplug oem amplifiers. - Perhaps thats why.

I.e. it gives a fault code for the dealer to say there is a problem.

Do you know what type of input?
Mine has a coaxial spdif, and that needed to be spliced for everything to work correctly.
Amp output can be used, and following your build thread, if this is for non critical listening, that could work for you. However, there's likely a load of EQ and maybe some TA that might need neutralizing.

Another reason some people use the output is they know what each output wire is (RR+ etc). Often the input would not be documented.
